From the lush green forests of summertime to the brilliant leaves in fall, the woods of northwestern Pennsylvania are an incredible place to play in the outdoors. Stay at Kozy Rest Kampground and enjoy activities like fishing and boating on Lake Arthur, hiking in the Clear Creek State Forest, and wildlife viewing along the Allegheny River Tract (located just 20 miles away from camp). You’ll find twenty-one miles of trails and scenic river-valley views there, spread over 3200 glorious acres. The national natural landmark of McConnell’s Mill State Park (also about twenty miles away) offers fantastic hiking, rock climbing and kayaking.

Be sure to include a trip to the Jennings Environmental Education Center, a 300 acre environmental park. Plan an outing to pet the animals at the Living Treasures Animal Park or head to Wendell August Forge (set seven miles from our campground), creators and merchants of the world’s most unique hand-forged gifts, for an afternoon of shopping. You can go Golfing in Butler County at one of the many courses, go sailing and windsurfing at Moraine State Park, or shop ’til you drop at the Prime Outlet Mall in Grove City.

If it’s a trip into the big city that interests you, head to Pittsburgh, home of Heinz Field, PNC Park, and the Mellon Arena. At just fifty-eight miles from Kozy Rest Kampground, this makes a nice day trip. About ninety miles to the North, you’ll find the town of Erie, another fabulous place to visit. And right nearby, Slippery Rock University is nine miles away and Grove City College is six miles away. Plan a scenic drive through the area and visit the highlights of Mercer County, Venango County, and Butler County, home to the August Regatta at Lake Arthur and September’s Butler Fall Festival.
